
I am kept on the edge of my seat while listening to an elderly person share details of their life; imaging the era, the environment, the setting and then composing it for readers.
It occurred to me that there are more stories than pages to be printed and perhaps not everyone would like their story published for all to read. My talent is listening closely to the speaker, observing their emotions, when they laugh, smile and are moved to tears, making note of the moments when this happens and pulling a fine thread through their story.
Many, as it turns out, end with lessons learned.
Piedmont Memoirs aims to make note of those lessons, those cherished times in life, as told by the person who lived them. And as it turns out, sitting for a few hours listening to family tell a story, is a memory unto itself.
